Spring Shearing

We’ve finally finished shearing all of our alpacas! The alpacas are shorn every spring. The fleece we get after shearing is incredibly soft. Alpaca fleece is softer and stronger than wool and it will keep you warmer too!

I’ve included a before and after shearing picture of Julio. Most people are shocked to see that an alpaca’s neck is quite thin and long too. After a full years growth they probably feel such relief to get all that fleece off. Now they’re ready for our Oklahoma summer.
