| Dave grew up in the country on the family ranch. He started horse whispering at a very early age. Although back then it wasn't called horse whispering. It was just a more humane way of breaking and training horses. He has an amazing gift for understanding flight animals. He now uses this gift with the alpacas. Both are flight animals and have similar flight tendencies. Dave is a detail draftsman with his office here on the farm so he is never far from the alpacas and horses. Karen grew up in the city. She lived in New York and Florida. She loves birds and raised parrots for many years. She studied ballet and got her Doctor's degree in Chicago. After having a successful practice in Florida, she moved to Oklahoma to work with Native Americans. She quickly grew to love the country lifestyle and.... City girl meets cowboy and the alpaca adventure began! Dave was first interested in alpacas back in 1991. Karen, on the other hand, being from the city, had never even heard of an alpaca until she married Dave. It was the alpaca commercials that caught her attention to the alpacas. Love at first sight! We bought our first alpacas in the fall of 2001. Soon it was clear. We had the alpaca habit! Our alpaca herd grew quickly. We were amazed at how gentle they were and how easy it was to take care of these wonderful animals. Our farm is now currently home to 20+ alpacas, 15 horses, 5 dogs, and a few barn cats. Two of our dogs are beautiful Great Pyrenees mixed with a little collie and sheepdog. They are our livestock guardian dogs. We use them mostly as perimeter dogs to keep the coyotes away but they also do well when they are in with the alpacas and have become wonderful pets. We now enjoy all aspects of the alpaca business. From daily care to show time, it really is a lot of fun. We even learned to spin and weave, making scarves and small blankets. We still have a long way to go in this incredible industry and we're loving every minute of it. It's a wonderful lifestyle! |
| ~ Something truly amazing I would like to share with you ~ One night, as I was praying for God to be more real in my life, I looked up and in the wood grain on my headboard were the letters J E S U S. I was absolutely amazed! I hope this blesses you! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, |
