Ribbons won at Oklahoma Show

The A-OK Blastoff Alpaca Show was this past weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma. My husband, Dave, brought 8 alpacas to the show. I was very excited to see how our alpacas would do this year. I stayed home this time because we have several girls due very soon and I just couldn’t leave them. By the way… I’m still waiting!

The Oklahoma Alpaca Show had three judges this year. Polly Michaelis – Fleece, Male Huacaya (gray through light). Kevin O’Leary – Female Huacaya (gray through light), and Huacaya Production. David Barboza – All Suri classes, Suri Production, Huacaya Male & Female (white & multi), and Performance.

Riccardo’s crias sweep the Oklahoma Alpaca Show!
The highlight for this alpaca show is when we won 2 blue ribbons at the same time in two different rings! Walnut Creek Antonio won blue in the brown adult male class at the same time BF Scarlett won blue in the brown adult female class. It gets better because both alpacas went back in for championship and both won Color Champion in their classes at the same time! When Dave called to tell me I about fell over!

Dave at the Alpaca Show

The Oklahoma show this year was our first time to show in the Get of Sire class. We brought 3 of Riccardo’s babies which included BF Cleopatra, Walnut Creek Cate, and AJ’s Peruvian Banderais. BF Riccardo won 2nd place in the Get of Sire for his crias! They probably would have won 1st place but Cate’s furry face put them in second.

This year was also our first time to show in the Breeders Best Three class. We brought 3 of BF Riccardo’s babies which included Walnut Creek Antonio, Walnut Creek Cate, and AJ’s Peruvian Banderais. Our farm received a 1st place ribbon for Breeder’s Best Three and Antonio won 1st Place in Bred and Owned Yearling!! They were all BF Riccardo’s crias so we were very excited to see Riccardo receive such high recognition of what he produces.

All in all it was a great show. All of our alpacas placed and showed very well. BF Riccardo’s crias did fantastic! Dave came back with an armful of ribbons!

MOPACA Invitational

Dave at alpaca show

Last weekend Dave attended the MOPACA Invitational Alpaca Show in Kansas City, Missouri. I was unable to attend but my prayers and thoughts were with him as well as the nine alpacas he took to the show. The alpaca shows keep getting tougher and tougher so we were very happy with all of our alpacas that placed.

Walnut Creek Antonio was our top alpaca superstar. He won a blue ribbon in the light brown juvenile halter class plus he went on to win Reserve Color Champion! Antonio’s mom is full sister to our amazing 8x Champion Classic Peruvian Magic and his dad is another Champion sire, BF Riccardo.

Our Reserve Color Champion in brown halter from the last show, BF Toscanini, was moved to the wrong class. They placed him in dark fawn. He did not show well in that class. He’s light brown not dark fawn so I was not happy that they moved him. Oh well it happens that way sometimes at the shows.

We had 3 alpacas win 2nd place. Benvenuti’s Puccini took 2nd he is a beige adult. Masterpiece Rockefeller took second in light fawn halter, and BF Scarlett placed 2nd in dark fawn juvenile halter for her first show!

Walnut Creek Jasmine took 3rd in her class once again. BF Rhett placed 4th in white juvenile halter which was a very large and very difficult class for his first show. Last but not least, our little one, Masterpiece Jessica placed 5th in medium fawn, again a very difficult class.

We’re proud of all of our alpacas… they all did a great job at the show! For more information on the alpaca show in Kansas City visit MOPACA Association website.

Oklahoma Alpaca Show

Jasmine2 278x300 Oklahoma Alpaca Show

As always we had a great time at the alpaca show in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  It’s fun to catch up with old friends and show our alpacas.  Also we like  to see how our alpacas stack up with the other alpaca farms.

We were thrilled when Walnut Creek Antonio won blue in juvenile medium brown and then BF Toscanini won blue in yearling light brown.  Our two boys went in for Color Championship and Toscanini won Reserve Color Champion!

Walnut Creek Jasmine (pictured here) took third in her class.  She went on to perform with our friend’s daughter in performance and showmanship.  She won third place in Showmanship so we were very happy for her.

The competition was fierce in the fawn and white classes.  It was tough… Masterpiece Rockefeller won 3rd in light fawn juveniles, Walnut Creek Tanner won 4th in yearling, and Masterpiece Jessica won 6th in juvenile.  Benvenuti’s Puccini won 2nd in adult white and last but not least… Masterpiece Ruth won 4th in grey yearling!

Alpaca shows are really a lot of fun.  There are a lot of great people to meet and so many beautiful alpacas to see.  Alpaca people are very friendly and happy to share any information about alpacas so get out and visit an alpaca show and have some fun!
