Brown Puccini cria

Charmyl finally had her cria and this little alpaca is so adorable. He’s big, beautiful, brown and look at all those curls! That’s a lot of great colorful crimp and Puccini is the sire of this handsome boy. Benvenuti’s Puccini brings awesome genetics to our farm. His sire is Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Apocalypse and his dam is The Admiral’s Peruvian Epiphany the daughter of Caligula’s Accoyo The Admiral. Wow what a superior outstanding pedigree. Needless to say we are very excited to see that his babies are finally arriving and they are gorgeous!!!

Charmyl did a fantastic job. His birth was an easy one… he must have read the alpaca birthing book. He did everything on his own with minimal help from me. I love it when they are that easy… then I get to sit back and enjoy it all.

Autumn came running over to him and she was frantically humming to him. She must have thought it was her baby. She checked him out and then went off to find her baby. Once she found her baby she calmed right down.

I only have this one picture of him. It started to rain and I didn’t want to get my camera wet. Maybe later today I’ll get a few more photos of this handsome boy.

Well we have one more baby we’re waiting on. It will be Magic’s first so the anticipation and excitement is growing!

Breech alpaca baby

The other evening right before we went in for the night we noticed Autumn acting a little odd. We watched her for a little while and nothing happened. Alpacas are so stoic and they can hide any kind of symptom really well so we decided to stick around. After a few minutes she went to the potty pile and all of a sudden a leg popped out. Something didn’t seem right so we checked her immediately and Dave found another leg. So were’s the head? He searched and couldn’t find one but he did find the tail… this alpaca baby is coming out backwards, it’s breech!

Since the back legs were already out we knew we could go ahead and help her deliver the baby in the breech position. It’s not easy but Dave delivered a breech cria before when the legs were tucked under. In fact it was the same mom… poor Autumn two breech babies in a row!

By now the sun went down and it was getting dark. Dave was finally able to pull the baby out. I thought he was dead but much to our amazement this little boy was still alive and what a live wire he turned out to be! He couldn’t wait to get up and start nursing. In fact he was even trying to run!

Well it’s another boy but I thank God he’s healthy. We decided to name the two boys after Jay’s two sons. Jay works for us and he’s a good friend too. Puccini’s baby’s name is Jordon and Autumn’s baby will be called Davan. Davan’s sire is Riccardo so this boy should turn out to be awesome. He has perfect conformation and awesome fleece so he looks like he’s off to a great start!

Puccini’s first cria

Our first alpaca baby this year is also Puccini’s first and Wendie’s first cria too! He’s a beautiful beige boy and he already has lots of luscious crimp. I took a closeup of his sweet face. I just love to take pictures of alpaca baby faces especially when they’re sleeping. This boy has perfect conformation with excellent coverage and I think he has the presence of a herdsire already!

We have more babies coming soon. We have one girl, Charmyl, that is overdue with another Puccini cria. Autumn is due with a Riccardo cria today. Plus we are extremely excited about another cria that is due today… Magic and Bianca’s first! The anticipation is driving me crazy!!!

Ribbons won at Oklahoma Show

The A-OK Blastoff Alpaca Show was this past weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma. My husband, Dave, brought 8 alpacas to the show. I was very excited to see how our alpacas would do this year. I stayed home this time because we have several girls due very soon and I just couldn’t leave them. By the way… I’m still waiting!

The Oklahoma Alpaca Show had three judges this year. Polly Michaelis – Fleece, Male Huacaya (gray through light). Kevin O’Leary – Female Huacaya (gray through light), and Huacaya Production. David Barboza – All Suri classes, Suri Production, Huacaya Male & Female (white & multi), and Performance.

Riccardo’s crias sweep the Oklahoma Alpaca Show!
The highlight for this alpaca show is when we won 2 blue ribbons at the same time in two different rings! Walnut Creek Antonio won blue in the brown adult male class at the same time BF Scarlett won blue in the brown adult female class. It gets better because both alpacas went back in for championship and both won Color Champion in their classes at the same time! When Dave called to tell me I about fell over!

Dave at the Alpaca Show

The Oklahoma show this year was our first time to show in the Get of Sire class. We brought 3 of Riccardo’s babies which included BF Cleopatra, Walnut Creek Cate, and AJ’s Peruvian Banderais. BF Riccardo won 2nd place in the Get of Sire for his crias! They probably would have won 1st place but Cate’s furry face put them in second.

This year was also our first time to show in the Breeders Best Three class. We brought 3 of BF Riccardo’s babies which included Walnut Creek Antonio, Walnut Creek Cate, and AJ’s Peruvian Banderais. Our farm received a 1st place ribbon for Breeder’s Best Three and Antonio won 1st Place in Bred and Owned Yearling!! They were all BF Riccardo’s crias so we were very excited to see Riccardo receive such high recognition of what he produces.

All in all it was a great show. All of our alpacas placed and showed very well. BF Riccardo’s crias did fantastic! Dave came back with an armful of ribbons!

Resurrection Day

You’re probably wondering why my headboard is the featured picture for Resurrection Day, Easter. Well I would like to share something very special with you. My Aunt gave me this beautiful cherry wood bedroom set years ago. One evening I prayed at the foot of my bed and asked God to be more real in my life. I know God is spiritual and we’re physical but I felt like I needed a hug or something to let me know He was really there with me. When I looked up I saw the letters E S in the middle of my headboard. I thought it must be a sign from God and when I looked closer I saw the letters JESUS in the wood grain in my headboard. Wow God opened my eyes and revealed Himself at that very moment as I was praying! An absolutely amazing experience and all I could think of was “wow Jesus is really here with me”!

Jesus' name on my headboard

Jesus Appears To Doubting Thomas
John 20:24-29 (ESV)
(24) Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. (25) So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.” (26) Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”(27) Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”(28) Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”(29) Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Jesus Reveals Himself to Martha
John 11:25-26 (KJV)
(25)Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (26)And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Salvation
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)
(9)That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10)For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Immanuel in the Hebrew language means “God with us”.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Have a blessed Resurrection day and remember… yes Jesus is really here with us!
